My Story

Chicken Female MRQ# F-8-24-2 DOB: 5/25/24 Chicken was born with her twin brother on May 25, 2024 in our neighborhood. She's always been the shyer, cautious, and introverted one. We named her "Chicken" because when we first made eye contact with her from far away, she ran away into the bushes- like a chicken! She's come a long way since living indoors with her brother, Wallace. From being very fearful of people, she's more confident when we come into the room and will come down from the cat tree to eat food, play with her brother, and use the litter box. We notice that she prefers watching people interact with Wallace first, but once treats or toys are brought out, she'll look over from the cat tree to see what's going on. She responds well to tube treats (we use Churu), and will walk up to us to get some. We work regularly to pet her face and body, and as a result, she lets us slowly pet her without food now. After she got spayed on 8/23/24, we noticed that she lets us pet her face and body with two hands! We're getting close to picking her up, but in the meantime, we consistently respect her boundaries and body language to gain her trust. Chicken will do well with someone who has some experience with cats or has patience to interact with her. We don't think she'll be nearly as cuddly as her brother, but from what we have experienced, she is a cat that says "Look at me, and don't touch me when I don't want you too". She and Wallace keep each other company during the day, and sleep together in a basket at night. She is meant for someone who understands how cats can "be their own" individuals, while still wanting human company. So if you are eager to a cat like her, while still respecting her need for companionship, then Chicken is 1/2 of the package you're looking for.
