Atticus: 4 year-old intact male, white Lab mix, 75 lbs
Background:
Atticus was brought into the Sonoma County Animal Shelter on September 14 as a stray with no microchip and sadly nobody has come for him. The Shelter contacted GGLRR to help get him out of that environment and into a loving home.
Sonoma County Shelter evaluation:
This dog was up front but quiet. I was able to leash him but he appeared worried. He does walk nice when on leash. He appears to be environmentally oriented scanning his surroundings however stays close to handler in an insecure manner. He was tense with the handler, but did not exhibit anything concerning.
He was not interested in toys. He released the food with no issue. He met a male Husky cross and was overall avoidant. He did eventually sniff him from behind, but was tense if they were interacting face to face; this dog's eyes were dilated, and he appeared worried. They did approach and meet a few times, and this dog appeared uninterested in interacting.
What Atticus' Rescue Rep says:
Atticus is a gentle soul who thrives on human touch and attention. This sweet boy has come a long way since arriving at the shelter becoming less timid and is quite comfortable approaching new people. Atticus greets you with a soft, trusting approach, happy to be petted and handled with ease.
With other dogs, he’s curious but mellow—calmly meeting a small, female dog without showing a strong need to engage and is good around cats. Atticus appears to be house trained and walks wonderfully on a leash. While he’s interested in toys, he’s all about companionship. Atticus would likely do best in a relaxed home with older children and possibly other calm dogs. If you’re looking for a loyal friend to add warmth and love to your home, Atticus may be the perfect fit.

Medical:
Atticus is still intact but we are working to get him neutered. Otherwise he seems healthy and has had all his vaccines. He is heartworm negative, has been microchipped and is on flea/tick/heartworm preventatives.
Atticus is located in: Los Gatos.
