Rescue Story
Incheol was rescued from a high-kill shelter in Hongsung, South Korea. He is currently being fostered in South Korea, eagerly waiting for his forever family. Once a suitable family is found, he will fly to the US. Approved applicants will have a two-week trial period to ensure the right match and commitment.
Personality & Behavior
- Friendly and Affectionate: Incheol loves approaching people of all ages and genders. He thrives on human interaction, enjoys being petted, and often seeks out affection by snuggling up to hands.
- Social Butterfly: Incheol gets along well with both large and small dogs. He’s friendly and social but may occasionally attempt mounting, which might make other dogs uncomfortable. He is non-reactive to birds and small animals during walks, showing a calm demeanor.
- Curious and Playful: When meeting other dogs, Incheol is curious and enjoys playful interactions. He responds in kind to gentle dogs, playing gently. If faced with an aggressive dog or barking, Incheol may become nervous and bark back, but he does not show any aggressive tendencies.
- Good with Children: Incheol has experience interacting with elementary school-aged children and does well in their company, making him a great family pet.
- Car Rides: He handles car rides well, usually settling down to sleep during the journey, although he may move around out of curiosity.
Training & Habits
- Leash Skills: Incheol walks well on a leash without pulling, although he might need guidance when encountering other dogs.
- House Training: He prefers outdoor pottying for both urine and feces. His success rate with indoor pee pads is around 50%. As a young pup, he might struggle to hold his bladder for extended periods.
- Bathing & Grooming: Incheol is not a fan of water and may try to escape during baths, seeking comfort from his human. He is still acclimating to tooth brushing.
- Food & Treats: Incheol enjoys meat-based snacks like pork, cheese, beef liver, chicken, and tuna. He prefers these over carbohydrates, making him highly food-motivated for training.
- Commands & Training: Incheol knows commands like "sit," "down," "hand," "roll over," and "heel," and he responds well to hand signals. He is highly food-motivated, which makes training with treats effective. He responds well to the recall command “yum yum” and will come back when called.
Ideal Home
- Companionship: Incheol thrives on companionship and would do best in a home where he can spend a lot of time with his family. He experiences some separation anxiety when left alone but feels more comfortable when another dog is present.
- Training Potential: Incheol is intelligent and food-motivated, making him highly trainable with consistent effort and patience.
Adoption Information: Incheol is up to date with vaccinations, except for the Lyme disease vaccine (which the adopting family will need to handle, as it is not readily available in South Korea). He is neutered, microchipped, and comes with a health certificate from South Korea. The adoption fee is $650, which includes his transportation to the US.
