My Story

Louisa (Lou-Lou) was the pet of an elderly couple who have passed away. She is eight years old and weighs 40 lbs. She wasn't well socialized by her late owners, who were homebound, but she's eager to make friends if a bit shy. Louisa is a smiler, which is an adorable trait some people confuse with snarling. She shows her teeth as a submissive gesture when she's anxious, but she's not at all aggressive (though she gets muzzled at the vet because of her fear of new people handling her). Louisa is housebroken and basically a couch potato. She can be left along in the house for hours. She gets along great with other dogs, as long as she's introduced carefully. Her current caregiver is a dogsitter by profession, and she brings her with her on some jobs. Louisa is not good with cats, however, and should not be placed in a home with cats, rabbits, or small animals that look like prey to her. She has not been around kids, so we don't know much about her ability to live with them. Are you the right person for Louisa? Louisa is spayed, up to date on shots, and heartworm negative. She is a low-key dog who is eager to please and just wants to live out her life with someone who will love her in return. She is staying with Amanda, a caregiver who can be contacted directly at 828-506-5069 or [email protected].
