Nero

Nero is a striking, big black "panther" boy with a quiet presence and soulful eyes. When he first arrived at HART, he was very scared and undersocialized, unsure of the world around him. Thanks to the gentle dedication of our Shy Angels Socialization Team, Nero has been learning that humans aren't so scary after all, building trust day by day and showing us the sweet cat that's been there all along. A big part of Nero's journey at HART has been meeting his best friend, GusGus. The two are deeply bonded and can often be found curled up together - somehow fitting themselves into the tiniest box imaginable for a cozy nap (we're still not sure how they manage it!). Because of their close connection, Nero and GusGus must be adopted together so they can continue to give each other comfort and confidence. As Nero has grown more secure, his playful side has blossomed. He loves chasing a laser pointer, batting at a Cat Dancer toy, and happily enjoying a Churu treat while he builds trust with his people. Nero is also friendly with other cats and enjoys their company, often coexisting calmly and comfortably in his space. Nero is still a shy boy at heart and will need an experienced, patient home that understands the importance of giving cats time to adjust at their own pace. With the same kindness and consistency that have helped him come so far, we know Nero and Regina will continue to thrive in a calm, understanding environment.
