My Story

Vespers world changed in an instant. He and his roommate, Gabby, were brought to Safe Haven after their human parents unexpectedly and tragically passed away in a car accident. Suddenly left without the home and family they had always known, Vespers life was turned upside down and he found himself navigating a heartbreaking new reality. Safe Haven welcomed him with love and care, giving him a safe place to land while he begins to heal. Through it all, Vesper has shown quiet resilience and now this sweet boy is hoping for another chance. Vesper (DOB May 2023) is a handsome boy with a long, sleek body, a beautiful medium-length black coat, and the most captivating yellow-green eyes. He has a quiet and gentle presence about him that makes you want to know him better. Hes sweet-natured, curious, and thoughtful, taking his time to observe the world around him. While he can be cautious in new situations, he is not overly skittish - just a sensitive boy learning to navigate a big change at his own pace. Being fairly new to Safe Haven, Vesper is still figuring out what this new world means. When Vesper was first introduced to the adoption room, he quickly found a safe place to tuck himself beneath a chest. Since then, he has been growing braver every day. He now comes out to explore his surroundings and is comfortable wandering around the room when volunteers are nearby. Its been lovely watching him enjoy his freedom a little more with each passing day. Even though he has his own condo and cozy cubby to retreat to, hes become comfortable enough to curl up in other cubbies around the room when its time for a nap. Around people, Vesper is still a bit cautious. If someone gets too close too quickly, he may choose to retreat to a spot where he feels safe. But once he begins to trust, he relaxes and accepts pets, and volunteers have even been able to tempt him with squeezable treatswhich he happily licks right up. Were still learning how Vesper feels about other cats. He shared space with Gabby in his previous home and they cohabitated in a kitty condo when first arriving at Safe Haven, but they are not bonded and mostly just tolerate each other. Hes taking his time in the adoption room and hasnt made any feline friends yet, which is no surprise after all hes been through and with only a short time at the shelter. Hes not confrontational and prefers to quietly keep to himself. His life changed so suddenly, and hes still finding her footing. Vesper has been through a heartbreaking upheaval, and we are hopeful that very soon his life will turn a corner once again. Vesper has experienced so much in such a short time, and he is handling it with quiet courage and grace. We truly believe that with patience, kindness, and a loving home of his own, he will continue to blossom and feel secure again. If you have room in your heart for a sweet, thoughtful companion who simply needs a little time and understanding, Vesper may be the one youve been waiting for. He deserves the chance to feel safe, loved, and cherished for the rest of his days.
