Willie & Lucky (EPI)

Willie is a purebred Maine Coon who has been stealing hearts since day one. This handsome ginger boy is as affectionate as they comehe loves to tuck his head under your arm and soak up all the cuddles he can get. Friendly and easygoing, Willie has lived happily with people, other cats, and even a small dog, making him a wonderful fit for many types of homes. As a kitten, Willie struggled with chronic diarrhea and just never seemed to feel his best. After a dedicated search for answers, he was diagnosed with exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI). With the right treatmentsimple twice-daily medicationWillie has truly thrived. Hes feeling so much better now and continues to show what a resilient, loving spirit he has. Through it all, hes remained sweet, social, and full of life. Willie shares a special bond with his best friend, Lucky, another Maine Coon who also has a milder form of EPI. They would love to stay together if possible, but our top priority is finding each of them the best possible home where they will be loved and cared for. They eat Hills dry gastrointestinal biome. (Dry food only and no treats or any other kind of food). EPI is treated with pancreatic enzyme powders, steroids as needed, and probiotics as needed. Willie loves his medicine and comes up happily to get it. They currently use pelleted litter but used clumping litter in the past. Pancreatic enzyme powder ($100 for 3 month supply). Both Willie and Lucky are currently receiving this twice daily, but Lucky can do okay on once daily 5 days/week. Prednisolone ($20 for a 6-7 week supply). Willie needs a pill at least 5 days/week while Lucky can do okay on 1-2 pred weekly. Willie comes when called to take his meds, but Lucky may hide when he smells the enzymes being prepared. They both occasionally receive metronidazole a couple times a week to keep their guts calm. Please note that Willie & Lucky are not in the care of Misfit Felines.
