My Story

Bucky is fostered in Madison, WI Meet Bucky! This handsome approximately 9-month-old Australian Shepherd puppy weighs in at 39 pounds and is equal parts adventure buddy and cuddle bug. With his goofy personality, eagerness to learn, and endless enthusiasm for life, Bucky is looking for a forever family ready to embrace all the fun that comes with raising a young Aussie. Bucky made his way to Wisconsin from Missouri and settled into his Madison foster home as if he'd always belonged there. He quickly became best friends with the resident dog and loves a good game of tug, chase, or fetch. While some things in life were new to him at first—like figuring out how stairs work—Bucky approaches new challenges with curiosity and determination. It didn't take long before he conquered them like a pro. Like any adolescent puppy, Bucky is still learning his manners and would thrive with a family committed to continuing his training. The good news? He absolutely loves to learn. He is treat and toy motivated, eager to please, and has already learned a few basics, including sit, down, and come. With consistency and positive reinforcement, this smart boy is going to blossom into an incredible companion. Bucky enjoys long walks, exploring the yard, sniffing every bush along the way, and burning off energy with a game of fetch. He walks nicely on a short leash and would make an excellent hiking partner for an active family. Once the adventures are over, he's more than happy to settle in for head scratches and quality time with his people. He is house trained and crate trained, and his crate has become a cozy place for him to relax—especially when paired with a favorite chew bone or after a busy day of play. Like many puppies, when he gets overtired, a little quiet time helps him recharge for his next adventure. Bucky does wonderfully with other dogs and would enjoy having a canine playmate, though he would also do well as the center of attention in an active home committed to meeting his exercise and training needs. He is neutered and ready to find a family that will continue guiding him through puppyhood while enjoying all the love, laughter, and loyalty he has to offer. If you're looking for a sweet, smart, affectionate young Aussie with tons of potential and an even bigger heart, Bucky just might be your perfect match. Bucky is neutered, up-to-date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, microchipped and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms. Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.
