My Story

Personality: Betty is a calm, low-energy sweetheart who blossoms with gentle handling and loves belly rubs, daily walks, and cuddling on the couch. Education: Potty trained, doesn't need a crate (she will use x-pen or babygate)- Easy on leash! Favorite Activities: Other calm dogs, soft toys, walks, time to smell, belly rubs, spending time with her people and dogs, exploring, car rides. Looking For: Betty would thrive in a relaxed home with another mellow dog for companionship. She prefers not to be crated and would do best with adults or older kids (12+) who treat her like one of the family. Special Needs/Concerns: None Bio: Your perfect companion! Hi there! I'm Betty, a six-year-old, 59-pound Terrier mix with a gentle heart and a love for the little joys in life. I made my way here all the way from the dreaded Ellos Son La Razon in Mexico, where I had quite the traumatic past. Thankfully, though, TAP stepped in to give me a second chance, and now I'm ready to find my forever family. I've already been spayed and, just so you know, I'm missing a few teeth - so I do best with a mix of wet and dry food. I may be a little timid at first, but if you're patient and kind with me, I'll warm up and show you my sweet, loving side. Once I trust you, I'm all about belly rubs, couch cuddles, tug o' war, chew toys, and sniffing around outside on our daily walks. I'm completely potty trained, and I walk nicely on a leash (though I'll admit I can't resist chasing after a squirrel or lizard if I see one!) I get anxious in crates, but luckily I don't need one. I'm not destructive and do just fine with an x-pen or baby gate. If I have another calm dog around when you're gone, I'm perfectly content and don't get anxious being left alone. I bark occasionally, but I'm easy to redirect. I'd love to have a mellow doggie sibling to keep me company, and a family who enjoys adventures but also appreciates quiet time at home. I'd do best in a cat-free home, and I'd likely be fine with older kids who understand I need a little time to feel safe. If you're looking for a loyal, loving companion who just needs a little time and understanding to blossom, I might just be your girl. My adoption fee includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please apply! My freedom ride was graciously sponsored by Amy Bluhm.
