My Story

Meet Mimi & Butterfly Double the Dachshund Love! Some dogs come into rescue as best friends, and Mimi and Butterfly are one of those special pairs that simply belong together. These two adorable Dachshunds have been through a lot, but they've never had to face it alone. Now they're looking for a forever family who will love them both and keep them together for the rest of their lives. Mimi and Butterfly are incredibly sweet, affectionate girls who love cozy beds, soft blankets, gentle pets, and simply being near their people. Whether they're curled up together for a nap or happily following you around the house, their bond is undeniable and heartwarming to watch. Like many rescue dogs, both girls are currently receiving treatment to become heartworm-free. The good news is that heartworm disease is treatable, and dogs who complete treatment typically go on to live long, happy, healthy lives. Heartworms are spread ONLY through mosquito bitesnot from dog-to-dog contact. Your current pets cannot catch heartworms from Mimi or Butterfly through normal interaction, shared water bowls, cuddles, or playtime. During treatment, they'll need a calm home where they can focus on healing. Activity will need to be restricted for a short time, allowing plenty of naps, snuggles, and quiet time while their bodies recover. The restrictions are temporary, but they're an important part of ensuring a successful recovery. We know adopting two dogsand especially two dogs undergoing heartworm treatmentmay sound like a big commitment. But families who have opened their hearts to dogs in treatment often tell us it becomes one of the most rewarding experiences they've ever had. Watching Mimi and Butterfly regain their health while sharing their journey together is something truly special. Foster-to-Adopt Option Available!
