My Story

Meet Dixie! Dixie is an approximately 4.5-year-old Boston Terrier weighing around 20 pounds. This sweet, affectionate girl is the perfect combination of playful companion and professional cuddler. Dixie loves people and thrives on human companionship. Whether shes playing with her toys, exploring the yard, or snuggled up on the couch, shes happiest when shes spending time with her family. One of her favorite pastimes is burrowing under blankets for a cozy nap, and shes always ready to curl up beside you at the end of the day. Dixie is outgoing, friendly, and adaptable. She gets along wonderfully with her foster dog siblings and enjoys their company, but she doesnt require another dog in the home to be happy. Shes perfectly content being the center of your world and soaking up all the attention herself. Dixie does have some mobility limitations in one of her rear legs due to an old injury. At this time, she continues to use the leg and enjoys a full, active life. While amputation could potentially be considered in the future, it is not currently necessary and may never be needed. Dixie doesnt let her leg slow her down and approaches life with enthusiasm and joy. She doesnt mind being crated but is trustworthy enough that she doesnt require a crate when her family is away. Her easygoing personality and affectionate nature make her a wonderful fit for many different types of homes. Dixie is: Spayed Microchipped Up to date on vaccinations Maintained on monthly preventatives Dog friendly Affectionate and playful Loves to cuddle Enjoys burrowing under blankets If youre looking for a loyal companion who will make you laugh, keep you company, and happily share your couch, Dixie may be the perfect addition to your family. Dixie is currently being fostered in Tennessee, but her foster family is willing to personally transport her to an approved adopter in Tennessee, Virginia, Washington, D.C., Pennsylvania, New York, and throughout much of New England (with the exception of Massachusetts). Interested in Adopting Dixie? If you are interested in adopting Dixie, please email us at [email protected]. You will receive an automatic reply containing a link to our online adoption application. Our adoption process begins with the application. If we believe Dixie may be a good match for your family, we will follow up with a phone interview, conversations with her foster family, personal and veterinary reference checks, and a home visit. Prior to adoption, we also schedule a video chat so we can get to know your family and give you the opportunity to meet Dixie virtually. Our goal is to make the adoption process a positive experience while ensuring the best possible match for both the dog and the adopter. We believe successful adoptions are built on lasting connections, and we take great care in finding the right fit for everyone involved.
