My Story

****When responding PLEASE use application at sparrowdogs.com, or you can also provide your information via email, such as:home, family, yard/fence, other pets, ages of people in the home, work hours...Thanks! What an adorable little boy--we couldn't agree more!! Joey is a cutie, just a year old, about 14 pounds and already knows a number of commands and is...drum roll...housebroken!! We were told by the previous owner Joey is a Maltipoo, but I am guessing there may be a little something else in there, he looks a little Bichon...but I could be wrong?? He came from a family that had dogs that had puppies. Whatever he is, he appears to be one of the more hypoallergenic dogs. As a foster home, we really appreciate that last skill...taking a housebroken dog into our home is a huge plus. But, with that said, his new family will have to continue to reinforce those behaviors and keep him on the right path. Please read this bio fully before responding, we know Joey is a highly adoptable dog based on his age, breed(s) and size. BUT...he came to rescue because of his fearfulness and a bit of anxiety. Joey had a person that loved and cared for him, but they had school, work and a change in pet policy at their home. They did the best they could and took Joey to a shelter where he could be cared for. Who can blame him for being anxious and scared? So, coming into our foster home he was initially fearful and standoffish with the people. He was introduced to the other dogs in the home and soon was doing great with them. Joey needs a home that will understand that he needs a little time to trust them, it is a matter of letting him settle in on his terms. He is young, perhaps undersocialized(he is young and can put that behind him) and needs a little more time to understand you are OK and he is safe. When that happens(it took almost a week with me, he loved my husband asap!) Joey is a little fireball of happiness, wiggles, loves, toys, games, and silliness!! HE has a huge case of the zoomies so would love a fenced yard. Older kids will be fine, another social dog in the home would be great. He is a very special boy, always ready for some fun, he will do well with an active family that will not leave him alone for long hours. Like so many wonderful rescue dogs, Joey just needs a special family with an little bit of patience, we will melt your heart!! His adoption fee is $475. Please email Kristine at [email protected].
