My Story
Professional sunbather seeks belly rubs and mountain time.
Hi, I'm Lou! I'm a 7-year-old, 60-pound Lab/Pit mix with a goofy heart and a sensitive soul. I'm quirky, loving, curious, and playful, and I take my sunbathing very seriously. I love lounging in the yard, rotating between sunny and shady spots, going for neighborhood walks, heading out on hikes, chasing sticks, playing tug, and curling up for pets, scratches, cuddles, and belly rubs. My friends call me Louie or Lou-dog.
General Socialization Notes:
I do best with familiar people, places, and routines. When people I know come over, I may get excited at first, but I can usually settle pretty quickly. New visitors can be exciting for me, and I may jump or bark
when I'm overstimulated. I'm also sensitive to loud or sudden noises like thunder, fireworks, car backfires, or slamming doors.
I'm house-trained, good when I'm home alone, and I ride well in the car when I have my own space. I know sit, stay, down, wait, place, and sometimes come. I do need thoughtful management around high-value treats and toys because I can guard things that feel important to me. I have snapped before, without causing injury, so my future family should be comfortable giving me space and helping me succeed.
Does Lou like other animals?
I enjoy structured off-leash hikes with other dogs and have done well with dogs of different sizes. I have never lived with another dog, though, and I need my own space around food, water, high-value treats, toys, and tight car seating. I can have a hard time with dogs who are pushy toward me. I may do best as the only dog in the home, or with a very thoughtful, well-managed dog match. I haven't really met cats, and I usually have low prey drive unless a squirrel or bunny runs right by me.
Does Lou like children?
I should go to an adult-only home with no children. I have had limited, managed exposure to kids and have done okay with brief greetings on leash, but because I can guard high-value items and need calm, predictable handling, a home without children is the best fit for me. Mature older teens may be okay if the home is quiet, respectful, and well managed.
Favorite Toys:
I love sticks, tug toys, stuffies, chew toys, dog puzzles, and snuffle rugs. I also love hiking, running around, occasional zoomies, and anything that lets me use my nose and brain.
Ideal Forever Home:
My perfect home would be a calm, active, adult-only home with people who understand sensitive dogs and are comfortable managing resources. I'd love a yard where I can sunbathe, sniff, and supervise the world from a cozy spot. I'd be happiest with people who enjoy quieter adventures, mountain time, familiar routines, and plenty of belly rubs.
