My Story

Personality: I'm a sweet, gentle, and submissive pup who may need a little time to warm up to new people. Once I feel comfortable, my loving personality shines through, and I form very strong bonds with my humans. Education: Potty and crate trained Favorite Activities: Playing with toys of every kind, running around with my dog friends, snuggling up for naps, leisurely walks and getting affection from my people Looking For: I would do best in a home with another friendly dog (or dogs), a calm environment, and people who are patient as I settle in. I love companionship, whether it's from my humans or my dog friends, and I'm happiest when I feel included in a peaceful, loving pack Special Needs/Concerns: None Bio: Hi there! My name is Nala, and I'm an 11-month-old Chihuahua/Spaniel mix weighing about 15 pounds. I was rescued in Tijuana and am so excited to find my furever home. I'm a healthy girl and have already been spayed. I'm a sweet, gentle, and submissive pup who may need a little time to warm up to new people. Once I feel comfortable, my loving personality shines through, and I form very strong bonds with my humans. I have quite a bit of experience living with other dogs and do especially well with calm, larger male dogs, whom I naturally gravitate toward for companionship and comfort. I generally enjoy other pups as well, though I can initially be a bit cautious or snarky when meeting new dogs in my space. With brief supervision and gentle redirection during introductions (typically 5-10 minutes), I quickly settle in and become fully accepting and friendly. Once I've adjusted, I do not show resource guarding with food or toys and integrate very well into a pack environment. I would thrive in a home with one or more well-matched dog companions who can help show me the ropes. I am still building confidence, so I can be a little intimidated by very large dogs at first, but I warm up with time and patience. I don't have experience with cats or children, and because I can be shy and fearful with new situations and adults, a calm, adult-only home would likely be the best fit for me. I enjoy all the simple joys of life - playing with toys of every kind, running around with my dog friends, snuggling up for naps, and getting affection from my people. I also love going on leisurely walks where I can take my time sniffing and exploring the world around me. I'm reliably potty trained and use both pee pads and the backyard. I'm crate trained and also haven't showed any signs of separation anxiety or destructive behavior when left outside of my crate! On leash, I'm easygoing with minimal pulling - I may zig-zag a bit as I explore, but I'm easily guided with a harness and am simple to leash up. Overall, I would do best in a home with another friendly dog (or dogs), a calm environment, and people who are patient as I settle in. I love companionship, whether it's from my humans or my dog friends, and I'm happiest when I feel included in a peaceful, loving pack. I'm low to medium energy and don't require long walks, and a backyard would be a wonderful bonus. Once I trust you, I become a very affectionate little companion who loves to snuggle close and share all the love I have to give. My adoption fee includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip.
