My Story

Location: Hendricks, MN This smart, eager-to-learn pup is already off to an amazing start in foster care! In just a few days, he's learned his name and "sit," and he's currently working on "leave it" like a champ. He's very food- and treat-motivated, which makes training both fun and rewarding-he's the kind of dog who truly wants to learn and please. Like many young pups, he started out a bit nippy (he loved going for ankles!), but he's made great progress with consistent redirection and positive reinforcement. He's catching on quickly and improving every day. He's doing wonderfully with potty training-no accidents since day one as long as he's kept on a consistent schedule with regular potty breaks every couple of hours. Even better, he's already sleeping through the night without needing to go out. He settles nicely in his kennel both overnight and during the day, making him an easy companion to have in the home. Right now, he's living on a farm where he gets to roam under close supervision, so he hasn't had much experience on a leash yet. He will need continued work on leash training in his adoptive home, but with how smart and food-motivated he is, he's a great candidate to pick this up quickly! His foster family works from home, so he's had lots of supervision and absolutely loves being around people. He seeks out companionship and enjoys being part of the daily routine. Since this is still new, he has only been left alone in his kennel for about an hour at a time so far, and has done well in that setting. His longer-term comfort with being alone is still unknown, so a home that can continue to build his confidence and independence gradually would set him up for success. Playtime is his favorite time! He loves toys, especially ropes and anything he can play tug-of-war with. He has a playful, energetic personality and enjoys interacting with other dogs. He's been doing well with his two larger foster siblings (55 and 65 lbs), and is learning how to read their cues. Because he can be enthusiastic in play, he would do best with dogs that are tolerant or with slow, supervised introductions-especially in homes with dogs that may resource guard. He has a healthy appetite and will happily try to sample everyone else's food if given the chance, so he's currently being fed in his kennel to set him up for success. Overall, this sweet boy is a bright, loving pup who is already building a strong foundation and will thrive in a home that can continue his training, provide structure, and give him plenty of playtime and enrichment. --------------- The best way to show interest in an animal is to submit an adoption application by visiting our website (www.rescuenetworkmn.org). Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, heartworm test (dogs over 9 months), FIV/FeLV test (cats - one in the litter), dewormed, and microchip implant (including registration). Rescue Network is strictly foster based which means all adoptable animals are in a home and there cannot be a meet until an application is submitted and approved. We have no way of knowing the breeds in the animals. All breeds listed are best guess.
