My Story

******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************ We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Scout, 4yr old spayed female, labrador retriever/german shepherd dog, 46 pounds. Scout is in a foster home in Houston, TEXAS and can transport out of state once an approved adopter is lined up! Scout, like so many of our dogs, was saved from the over crowded city shelter in Houston when she landed on the euthanasia list. This sweet girl had previously had a home but was surrendered by her owners and quickly became a volunteer favorite for her sweet, loveable personality. Scout lives in a home with many dogs - her foster has 8 pups - and she loves every dog she has met. She enjoys playing with her foster siblings and is described as "the perfect dog" with nothing negative to be said about her. She's gentle, sweet and affectionate, and has displayed zero signs of resource guarding or negative behaviors around her brothers/sisters. Her playstyle is very loose and easy-going, and she picks up well on other dogs' cues to stop playing. Scout is fully house broken and does great in the kennel, she walks well on a leash and enjoys going for rides in the car. Overall, she's moderate energy level and would appreciate a home with another fur sibling, trips to hike or wander the trails, and lots of time with her human, who she has a great desire to please. Scout would prefer a home with kids who are over the age of 8yrs, as younger children scare her. She lives in a home with young toddlers (2yr old) and gets very nervous by the noise and antics of little children. In general, we recommend homes with kids who are old enough to understand and respect animal behavior cues. We do not have history with cats. Scout is a perfect adult dog who would make a fantastic companion for someone inexperienced with dogs, or a family with older kids. She's chill and go-with-the-flow, and would appreciate tagging along for trips to breweries or adventures at a campsite. She is apt to roll on her back to demand tummy tax payments, throwing up a paw as she does it. :) ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. *** Interested in applying to adopt her?
