Meet Shirley, a beautiful, soulful Labrador who spent her life in a puppy mill and is now learning that the world can be a place of love and safety. Because of her past, she is a shy, sensitive soul who is easily startled by loud noises and sudden movements. She is currently looking for a patient, low-key home where she can blossom at her own pace. Given her timid nature, she would thrive in a quiet household with teenagers or adults, as the high energy of small children would likely be too stressful for her. However, she is a wonderful companion who gets along great with other dogs, and having a confident canine sibling could be a massive help in building her confidence. While Shirley is still finding her confidence-including her house-training, as she is just beginning to learn that the outdoors is a safe space-her capacity for affection is truly heartwarming. She is an absolute professional when it comes to belly rubs and will completely melt under your touch once she feels secure. She is also motivated by treats, though she is a bit of a connoisseur with very specific tastes, and she would love a family willing to help her discover her favorite snacks.
