A 9-year-old Chi mix arriving all the way from Alabama, Sparkler is the kind of dog that makes you wonder how on earth he hasn't been scooped up already. Friendly with people, friendly with dogs, and likely to make peace with a cat given a slow and patient introduction — he is, by all accounts, an easy guy to love. What Sparkler needs most right now is simple: somewhere calm to decompress for a couple of days while he gets his bearings in a brand new city. New sights, new smells, new everything — a quiet home with a mellow energy will mean the world to him in those first few days. A laid-back canine companion to show him the ropes would be a lovely bonus but not a requirement. Sparkler will benefit from continued work on house training, leash manners, and basic obedience throughout his foster stay — which means his foster family gets the joy of watching him grow and settle in real time. Senior dogs often surprise people. They're grateful in a way that younger dogs simply aren't yet. Give Sparkler a soft place to land, a little patience, and the chance to show you who he is.
