If there were awards for being both talented and ridiculously lovable, Taz would be taking home trophies. This charming little guy can catch small toys right out of the air, but his true specialty is convincing people to stop what they're doing and give him belly rubs. Thankfully, he's very good at both.
Estimated to be around 3 years old, weighing a perfectly portable 20 lbs, Taz looks everybit like a Mini Australian Shepherd but given Taz is a rescue, breed and age are simply our best guess. What we know for certain is that he is a gentle, easygoing little guy with a playful side, excellent house manners, and a heart full of affection.

Taz is currently thriving in a foster home where he has proven himself to be both house trained and crate trained. He's the kind of dog who settles comfortably into family life and doesn't arrive with a long list of demands. His foster describes him as an easy companion who slipped right into the routine of the house. While he can be the tiniest bit shy in new places, he meets new people with the warmest shyness we have ever seen. He basically has already decided you are going to be his friend and he confirms it with his signature, belly-up hello. Since everyone takes the opportunity, Taz has become know as a true-blue belly rub collector. He is wonderfully gentle with handling and happily accepts being picked up, moved around, and fussed over.
Taz gets along beautifully with other dogs and has lived peacefully alongside both dogs and cats. He tends to be more of a polite roommate than a social director, preferring to coexist rather than organize daily wrestling matches. He reads other dogs well, shares toys and treats respectfully, and is perfectly happy keeping to himself when the mood strikes. He also showed very little interest when he met our house cat, choosing to give a few polite sniffs before continuing on with working the room.
His playful side appears when toys come out. Toss a small plush toy his way and prepare to be impressed. Taz can catch them right out of the air with surprising skill. It's a party trick that never seems to get old.
With his low-to-medium energy level, friendly nature, and easygoing personality, Taz could fit beautifully into many different homes. Whether he's joining a family with other respectful pets or becoming the center of attention as your one and only, Taz seems ready for the simple things in life: a soft place to nap, a few toys to catch, plenty of belly rubs, and people to love.
Taz is the kind of dog who quietly steals the show. One minute he's politely minding his own business, the next he's rolled onto his back requesting belly rubs and casually catching toys out of the air like he's been secretly training with a traveling circus.
Sweet, friendly, and wonderfully easy to love, Taz has a way of making everyone around him smile.
