My Story

Meet Weston! This handsome little 13-pound, 5 year old Shih Tzu was found as a stray, but despite every effort, no one ever came looking for him. His neglected, overgrown coat had become so severely matted that it had to be shaved down to give him a fresh start. Thankfully, Weston doesn't let his past define him. His gentle spirit and sweet personality have remained perfectly intact. Weston is a quiet, affectionate little gentleman who simply wants to be close to his people. Whether you're relaxing on the couch, taking a leisurely stroll through the neighborhood, or heading out for a car ride, he's happiest when he's by your side. He genuinely enjoys attention and companionship, making him the perfect little shadow for someone looking for a loyal best friend. He has done well with other dogs and has shown no interest in cats. Weston would likely do well with older, dog-savvy children who understand how to respectfully interact with a small dog. He has demonstrated a good understanding of house manners, is crate trained, and settles nicely into a routine. As with all Shih Tzus, Weston will require regular professional grooming to keep his coat healthy and comfortable. He is not a good fit for a tether or tie-out, as he much prefers the comfort and security of being with his family. After spending who knows how long fending for himself, Weston is ready to trade uncertainty for unconditional love. If you're looking for a devoted companion who will happily ride shotgun on your adventures and curl up beside you at the end of the day, Weston may just be the perfect addition to your family. Could you be the one to give Weston the forever home he's been waiting for? Many of the animals in our foster program come to us with limited or unknown histories. We make every effort to evaluate each animal's temperament and behavior, including testing their interactions with other dogs, cats, and children (defined as individuals under the age of 18, when available). However, every animal is unique—just as every child and household environment is different. While we strive to set both our foster animals and adoptive families up for success through thorough assessments and transparent communication, **we cannot guarantee any specific behavioral outcome**. Animals can be unpredictable by nature, and behavior may change in new environments or over time. By proceeding with adoption or foster placement, applicants acknowledge and accept this inherent risk and agree that no guarantees, either expressed or implied, are made regarding the temperament or behavior of any animal placed through our program.
