My Story

Meet Carrie! Hi y'all! My name is Carrie I am round 2 yrs old, and I'm ready to find my forever family! My story started on a former Army base in Anniston, Alabama, where I was found with a male dog who is believed to be my brother. We were named after roads in the neighborhood where we were discovered. Some kind people gained our trust by feeding us and helping us feel safe, and before long they connected us with Sandi Paws Rescue and my wonderful foster mom. My brother was lucky enough to head to Wisconsin quickly and find his forever family, but I had one extra hurdle to overcome--I tested positive for heartworms. The good news? I completed my treatment like a champ and am now officially heartworm negative! Woohoo! I'm a beautiful girl with a striking gray and black coat and a deep dark stripe running down my spine that makes me truly one of a kind. My foster mom says I'm gorgeous, but I'll let you be the judge of that! I've learned all about living in a home and am kennel trained with a pretty reliable routine. When I know my foster mom is awake, I'm always happy to let her know that I'm awake too and ready to start the day! I love spending time outdoors, exploring new sights and smells, and going for neighborhood walks. I'm affectionate and enjoy back rubs, kisses, and spending time with my people. I get along well with other dogs who have a similar energy and temperament. I am very curious about cats and other small animals, so I'd likely do best in a home without cats, birds, or chickens. There are a couple of things you should know about me. Car rides aren't my favorite at first, but I settle down pretty quickly once we're on the road. And baths? Well... let's just say I don't understand why humans insist on washing away all the wonderful scents I've worked so hard to collect! A quick wipe-down with a washcloth, though? That's perfectly acceptable. My foster mom says people in Wisconsin love their dogs like family, and she's promised me that Sandi Paws will help me find the perfect home. I believe her. While I may be a little shy when we first meet, if you give me a chance and a little patience, you'll discover a sweet, loyal companion who is ready to love and be loved. Could you be the family I've been waiting for? Love, Carrie ? Thank you for choosing SandiPaws Rescue. Please visit our site at https://www.sandipaws.org to fill out an application to adopt.
