Duchess has clearly reached the stage of life where she has absolutely nothing to prove. While the rest of the world rushes around in a hurry, Duchess is busy perfecting the art of peaceful strolls, gentle kisses, and quietly enjoying the good things in life. Add in her adorable Yoda-meets-airplane ears and you've got a little dog who turns heads and gathers awws without even trying.
Duchess is estimated to be around 5 years old, weighs 20 pounds, and looks very much like a Yorkie/Silkie Terrier mix, but she is a rescue, so breed and age are simply our best guess. What we know for certain is that she is a calm, sweet-natured little lady with excellent house manners, a gentle heart, and a talent for making life feel just a little more peaceful.

Duchess is currently thriving in a foster home where she has proven herself to be both house trained and crate trained and all around easy company. In fact, her foster reports that she is incredibly peaceful when crated, happily settling in without complaint. She's the kind of dog who doesn't create chaos, demand constant entertainment, or require an elaborate daily itinerary. Duchess is perfectly content simply being part of the family.
One of the sweetest bonus's was finding out just how lovely Duchess is leash walking. Duchess has an easy, comfortable pace that makes every stroll feel relaxing. She isn't in a rush to get anywhere. She's just happy to be out with her person, taking in the sights and enjoying the journey together. If you've been dreaming of a dog who could be your daily walking buddy without turning every outing into an Olympic event, Duchess is your girl!
Duchess gets along beautifully with other dogs and has shown wonderful social skills with dogs of all sizes and personalities. She isn't looking for a nonstop playmate and much more prefers calm companions who share her appreciation for the relaxed and peaceful life. She happily coexists, shares space politely, and is secure enough to simply do her own thing.
She has also done well around cats. After settling in during her cat introduction, she relaxed completely and showed little interest in the cat sharing her space. We think a home with calm, dog-savvy cats could be a wonderful fit.
Duchess is polite when meeting new people and there is something incredibly endearing about her gentle nature. She has a thoughtful exterior which means she isn't ever going to try and rush someone into being her best-friend, but will absolutely slip a few gentle kisses to ensure you know she is there and ready for love whenever you are. She is a sweet little dog who genuinely enjoys affection and has handled new experiences with quiet grace.
Duchess is the perfect companion for someone looking for a lower-energy friend who values cozy moments, peaceful walks, and simple pleasures. She's apartment friendly, easygoing, and wonderfully adaptable. Whether you're relaxing at home, heading out for a stroll, or simply enjoying a quiet afternoon together, Duchess is more than happy to be right there beside you.

At our 2 acre Texas based property, we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group training and socialization play groups helping them stay confident, well rounded, and adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers are dedicated to each dogs growth and we enjoy seeing their progress!
We go above and beyond to ensure every animal receives exceptional care. Veterinarians consistently praise our medical standards. From routine care to advanced treatments, each dog receives personalized attention. Hard costs for a healthy dog range from $804-$920; heartworm-positive dogs or those needing specialized care can exceed $2,000+. Adoption fees help cover a portion of these expenses, but without government funding, we rely on fundraising to bridge the gap ranging from $100$1,000+ per dog.
Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.
