My Story

Meet Fitz, a 7-year-old Chihuahua mix weighing 10 pounds, and prepare to fall head over heels for this one-of-a-kind little gentleman. Missing one eye has never dampened Fitz's spirit. He greets each day with curiosity, a happy heart, and an adorable personality that's impossible not to love. Fitz is full of charming little habits that will make you smile. Before hopping onto the couch, he pauses for a moment to gather his courage, then makes the cutest little leap. When he wakes up, he gives an Elvis-worthy shimmy from head to tail before starting his day. He's also become quite the TV enthusiast, especially if there's a soccer game on, and he'll happily settle in beside you to cheer on the action. This sweet boy loves being close to his people. Whether you're relaxing at home, heading out for a car ride, enjoying a sniff-filled adventure in the yard, or stopping for a pup cup, Fitz is happiest when he's by your side. He enjoys walks but doesn't need long adventures to be content. A comfy couch, a cozy dog bed, and someone to cuddle with are all high on his wish list. Fitz has settled beautifully into his foster home. He's house-trained on a regular schedule, sleeps through the night without accidents, and quickly learns the household routine. Because he doesn't always let you know when he needs to go outside, sticking to a consistent potty schedule will help him continue to succeed. He may benefit from wearing a belly band while adjusting to a new home, but he's already proving what a polite little houseguest he is. He's done wonderfully with the large Labrador in his foster home and has been friendly with every person and animal he's met. While he'd be perfectly happy as your one and only spoiled sidekick, he can also share his home with another respectful dog. Because he has limited vision on one side and can pivot quickly when surprised, a home with older, understanding children would be the best fit. Fitz may appreciate a little patience when it comes to being picked up, but once he's in your arms, he's more than happy to soak up the cuddles. Sweet, gentle, and endlessly endearing, Fitz is ready to trade foster life for a forever family who will love every little hop, shimmy, and snuggle he has to offer. His minimum adoption fee is $200 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
