Mikey

Meet Mikey! Some of you may remember this cute little face that came to us as an owner surrender from the beginning of this year. Sadly, his adopter passed away after loving him for 4 months and he is again looking for a new home to call his own. Mikey is a 3-year-old, 8 pound mixed breed pup with a big personality packed into a little body. This energetic and curious guy is always ready for his next adventure. Whether thats a game of fetch, a walk around the neighborhood, or a squeaky-toy extravaganza. (Fair warning: squeaky toys are his absolute obsession!) When Mikey first meets new people, he can be a bit timid and may let out a few barks to announce himself, but dont worry, he warms up quickly, especially if treats are involved. Once hes comfortable, he turns into a loyal little shadow who loves being near his person, usually sitting right next to you rather than on top of you. Mikey is crate trained (a treat helps!) and settles in nicely, though he may whine briefly before relaxing. His foster mom reports that he has been great with his house training and does best with a consistent schedule and by following another dog outside for potty time. Hes treat-motivated, knows the command no, and has just started learning sit, hes eager to learn more with continued training. He does well with other dogs and would truly thrive with a canine companion to play with and learn from. Mikeys energy level is on the higher side, and hes still learning how to turn off, but with routine, enrichment, and an active home, he continues to make great progress. One of Mikeys most charming quirks? He makes hilarious little gremlin-like noises when he wants something, and hes not shy about sitting in front of you and barking to demand playtime. Because he can be a bit nippy during play, Mikey is looking for a home without young children. Mikeys ideal home is with someone who is home often, enjoys daily walks, appreciates a playful and opinionated little dog, and doesnt mind having a devoted (and slightly bossy) companion by their side.
