Hi! My name is Penny, and if youre looking for a professional tennis ball retriever, couch cuddle expert, and loyal best friend, I think we should meet.
First things first: I LOVE fetch. Seriously. Throw the ball, throw the ball again, and then maybe throw it one more time. I promise I wont get tired of it.
I also love being close to my people. If youre looking for a shadow that follows you around the house, checks on you in every room, and thinks personal space is overrated, Im your girl.
Now, I should tell you a little secret about myself. Im a sensitive soul. New people can make me nervous, especially men. I warm up just fine when given patience, kindness, and a chance to move at my own pace. Once youre in my circle, though, youll have a best friend for life.
As for other dogs? Well, lets just say I'm selective about my social calendar. Some dogs are my kind of people, and some are not. Because of that, if you already have a dog at home, Id love to meet them first to make sure were a good match. A girl has standards, after all.
I was lucky enough to be saved from the euthanasia list in Texas, and now Im patiently waiting for my happily-ever-after. All I really want is a family who understands that trust takes time, love is worth the wait, and tennis balls should be thrown whenever possible.

*We coordinate with multiple transport services that operate weekly to Eastern states and bi-weekly or monthly to Western states from Texas to your state or a neighboring state. These are ground transports using third party vehicles (vans/buses) converted for dog transport. Each adopter has the ability to track the van using the app Life360, and receives updates from transport along the way. Facebook chats are another resource to stay informed on tracking dogs on transport. Please be able to use one of these available services if you wish to follow your adopted dog on transport.
*Our adoption fees are based on the vetting we put into each dog. Fees for puppies (under 12 months) are higher because they require more vetting than dogs over 1 year.
*Listed breed and age are based on a best guess estimation by rescue and veterinary staff; DNA tests are not included in adoption.
*Our adopters are eligible to receive 50% off training with Curbed Behaviors Dog Training for programs booked within 30 days of adoption, and 25% off programs booked within 60-90 days of adoption.
*All of our adopters are invited to join our Alum Pupdates Facebook group, to share their story and their adorable pup with fellow Sunnyside Street Dogs adopters!
