My Story

Pinto is a cute one-year old male Terrier mix who was brought to HSOV on June 2, 2026 by a Good Samaritan who found him on Sunset Lane (between Colegate Drive/Glendale Road) in Marietta Ohio. That kind lady tried in vain to locate his family before bringing him to our shelter. He was not wearing a collar and a microchip was not detected. Pinto has a tan-and-white shorthaired coat, a long tail, and an adorable face with hopeful innocent dark brown eyes, a dusting of white, a black button nose, black shading on his slender muzzle, and extra-large ears which he holds erect when he chooses to do so. Pinto has a friendly disposition but is understandably frightened being in an unfamiliar place with so many barking dogs nearby. Pinto was very nervous when we took first photos shortly after his arrival on June 2nd ... But with some soft gentle conversations and quietly sitting near the front of his floor crate, Pinto began to wag his tail ever so slowly and to make eye contact .. And he proudly held his large ears erect. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Pinto was held for the mandatory three-day stray so that his family would have an opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership. Surprisingly, nobody called or came looking for this little sweetheart. If you recognize this little boy or know who his owner might be, please contact the HSOV by calling (740) 373-5959. These updated pictures were taken on the afternoon of June 6, 2026 when HSOV Volunteer Angel Grosklos accompanied Pinto for a fun-filled photo session. What an amazing difference in Pinto's level of self-confidence after being with his new best friends (our HSOV kennel techs and volunteers) for just a few days. Pinto's playful personality has emerged, and he was in the height of his glory running laps around Angel, doing a few zoomies, exploring the great outdoors, and following his nose through the green grass. Pinto was a pushover for attention from Angel. Pinto was such a good boy when he decided to strike some perfect poses in addition to some 'action shots', stretching out in the grass for relaxed poses, and smiling for the camera. Pinto is a petite young man who weighs just 20 lbs. Since he was not reclaimed, Pinto could be fostered or foster-to-adopt with an approved HSOV adoption/foster application.
