My Story

ATTENTION: We have another dog suffering from a very serious condition... Pickup Location: Tulsa, Oklahoma -Adopters will need to come pick up their new furry family member themselves. Apply here: https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app She believes your lap belongs to her. Meet Ericka, a sweet, playful girl who's somehow convinced herself that "personal space" is just a suggestion. She'll happily romp around with other dogs, entertain herself with a good chew toy, proudly parade around with whatever stick she's found in the yard... and then, just when you think she's worn herself out, she'll climb into your lap like she's a 12-pound puppy instead of whatever size she actually is. Honestly? It's a pretty solid life philosophy. I know what you're thinking..."What do you mean, whatever size she actually is?" Well... you see... Ericka is a growing puppy who hasn't quite accepted that she's no longer tiny. At just 4 months old, this 36-pound female Great Pyrenees is well on her way to becoming a true gentle giant. Does she realize that every growth spurt makes lap-sitting a little more... ambitious? Absolutely not. In Ericka's mind, if one paw fits, the rest of her obviously does too. Before she found rescue, Ericka came within hours of being euthanized for no other reason than finding herself abandoned in a tiny, overcrowded shelter. Thankfully, a foster stepped up just in time and gave this incredible girl the chance she deserved. And that's when Ericka revealed one of her best-kept secrets...Her spots! I mean, have you seen the adorable little "crown" on top of her head? Those precious freckled spots? She looks like someone took a paintbrush and added just enough personality to make her one of a kind. She's not only uniquely beautiful—she's every bit as sweet as she is adorable. Behind those freckles is a playful, affectionate puppy who's equal parts cuddle bug, stick collector, and future oversized lap dog. One of the many things Ericka has going for her is that she hasn't met a stranger she's particularly worried about. New people? "Hi! Nice to meet you. Are you accepting cuddle appointments today?" She recently met her foster's daughter and acted like they'd been friends forever, and she was so relaxed at her veterinary appointment that we're pretty sure she missed the memo that you're supposed to be at least slightly offended by thermometers. When it comes to other dogs, Ericka fits right in with her foster's three resident pups. She loves having canine companions to play with, happily joins in on the fun, and seems to recognize that they're bigger than she is... for now. Give her a few more months, and that size difference may disappear entirely. We suspect she's quietly working on becoming one of the "big dogs" while continuing to insist she's still lap-sized. Now, as for cats and kids? We have no official report to file. Her foster doesn't have either, so we can't honestly tell you how those introductions would go. We like our adoption profiles the same way we like our puppies—honest. So, unlike your friend who swears their dog is "perfect" after meeting one child for 17 seconds six years ago, we'll simply say those chapters of Ericka's story haven't been written yet. With an energy level of 7 out of 10, she's the perfect mix of playful puppy and future couch companion. She's always ready to explore a new room, investigate whatever you're doing, recruit another dog into a wrestling match, or convince you that tossing a toy just one more time is in everyone's best interest. Once she's had her fun, though, she's more than happy to cash in those zoomies for some quality cuddle time. Adventure? Oh, she's interested. Whether she's exploring every inch of the house, making new friends, or proudly carrying around her latest stick acquisition like she just won "Best in Show," Ericka seems destined to become quite the social butterfly. She's curious about the world without being reckless about it, which is a pretty impressive accomplishment for a four-month-old puppy. Car rides? Easy peasy. She hopped in, rode happily next to her foster, and spent most of the trip watching the world go by through the windows like she was starring in her own coming-of-age movie. Now... leash walking. Let's just say she's still figuring out why humans insist on attaching themselves to puppies with fancy ropes instead of simply following wherever the puppy was already planning to go. She's young, she's eager, and with a little practice she'll have it down in no time. She's also a fan of toys—especially if someone will throw one for her. Fetch is absolutely on her list of approved activities, although we can't promise she'll always remember that returning the toy is technically part of the game. She's still negotiating that clause of the contract. Swimming, on the other hand? Hard pass. She comes from a breed known for guarding in the mountains, not auditioning for synchronized swimming. As Ericka continues her quest to grow into the majestic gentle giant she's clearly destined to become, there are a few things her future family should know. First, we'd love to see her with a securely fenced yard. She genuinely enjoys stretching those growing puppy legs, exploring, carrying her latest stick trophy around the yard, and generally supervising the neighborhood from the comfort of home. Potty training is also coming along well. One thing she has mastered? The kennel. She also hasn't discovered the joy of chewing your favorite shoes, shredding throw pillows, redecorating your home with toilet paper, or inventing new forms of puppy chaos. She isn't much of a barker, she isn't mischievous, and she isn't looking for ways to escape. Frankly... she's making the rest of the puppy population look a little bad. Now here's the part where you actually have to do something besides saying, "Awwww, she's so cute!" You'll need to fill out an adoption application at: https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app Once you do that, the rescue humans will send your application over to my foster family. They'll read all about you, make sure we're the perfect match (because they're annoyingly responsible like that), and if we're meant to be, they'll help make it official. Pickup Location: Tulsa, Oklahoma And yes... you'll have to come pick me up yourself. Apparently "overnight shipping," "same-day delivery," and "teleportation" are still unavailable. I've asked. Repeatedly. So... what are you waiting for? Fill out that application, come meet the spotted puppy with the little crown on her head and the giant heart, and let's see if your lap is ready for its newest permanent occupant.
