Looks like: Shih Tzu Male, 11 years old (estimated), 12 pounds When Franc landed at our local shelter, the neglect he had endured was almost unimaginable. His tiny body was buried beneath layers upon layers of matted fur, dreaded and woven together so tightly it had formed a thick, wool-like shell around him. The mats around his neck were shaped in a way that suggested he may have been trapped wearing a cone for months, possibly even years. His nails had grown over 4 inches long, curling and locking themselves into the dense mats that suffocated his paws. No dog should ever have to live like that. Despite everything he's been through, Franc has remained gentle and kind. He is good with other dogs and seems to find comfort in their presence. Now freshly shaved down and finally relieved of the painful burden he carried for so long, we are already beginning to see glimpses of the dog he was always meant to be. Right now, Franc is learning what it means to feel safe. To be touched with love instead of neglect. To rest comfortably. To simply be a dog again. We can only imagine the life he survived, but we are determined that the rest of his story will be filled with warmth, patience, and kindness. Franc is looking for a family willing to help him blossom into the beautiful soul we know is hiding underneath the scars of his past. And trust us... this little boy is worth the wait. Sweet Franc joined us from a local shelter after he was picked up as a stray in deplorable condition. We were contacted as he clearly needed some extra TLC beyond what the shelter could offer him.
