My Story

Meet Miley!

Miley, 27.6 lbs, is looking for a special forever home with her best friend, Sage. These two girls share a close bond and will need to be adopted together so they can continue their journey side by side.

Miley and Sage were surrendered by their owner after repeatedly escaping their yard and helping themselves to the neighbors' chickens. While this behavior certainly shows their adventurous spirit, it also means their future home will need a very secure, safely fenced yard. Miley and Sage are moving to an experienced foster home where we hope to learn more about her motivation for escaping and whether additional management strategies may help.

According to their previous owner, Miley and Sage have lived successfully with both cats and children. They are friendly with people and have done well with larger dogs. While all introductions to new pets and family members should be handled thoughtfully, this history is encouraging for adopters looking to add them to an active family home.

The good news is that despite their interest in chickens, these girls have reportedly lived peacefully with cats. However, because of their history with poultry, they should not be placed in a home with chickens or other small critters.

Miley and Sage are both 4-year-old and both girls are heartworm negative. Miley will be spayed on 7/1. She will need about 5 days to heal before getting on a plane. Before traveling to their new home, they will have their vaccinations brought up to date, receive fecal testing, be microchipped, and be started on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.

We are still getting to know Miley's individual personality and will update her profile as we learn more. What we do know is that she has a devoted canine companion in Sage and deserves a family willing to welcome them both into a safe, loving home.

If you're looking for a friendly, bonded pair and have a secure yard where they can safely enjoy life, Millie and Sage may be the perfect addition to your family.
